Flu Cases Surge in Murrumbidgee
Influenza cases are on the rise in the Murrumbidgee region. The latest health report shows a significant increase in influenza A cases, with emergency department visits and notifications also climbing. While RSV activity remains moderate, pertussis and pneumonia rates are abnormally high among school-aged children.
Despite a decline in COVID-19 cases, health authorities are urging caution as the triple threat of influenza, RSV, and COVID-19 continues. People aged 65 and over, in particular, are encouraged to get vaccinated against the flu as they are most at risk of severe illness.
To prevent the spread of these viruses, the community is advised to avoid visiting hospitals and aged care facilities if experiencing respiratory symptoms.
